Arena Essex was hit by bad weather right through the June 9 meeting, providing a tricky surface for the all-contact meeting.

Steve Green Jnr. took the final as the BriSCA F2 Stock cars battled with the slippery circuit, though his win ahead of Mick Sworder happened during the drier middle of the meeting. Bill Batten was the dominant driver in the last appearance of the BriSCA F2 Stock Cars at Arena Essex, but after a heat win this time out he was subject to some bad luck, failing to finish. Chris Stephens took the second heat, and Matt Sayer got hs first win at Arena since his Ministox days in a very wet Grand National qualifier as the rain returned full force.

The 1300 Stock Cars also had a time of it, Darren Cardy managing to make the most of a drying track in the Supreme Qualifier final while Adrian Genery managed to keep going in the rain in the Festival Qualifier to win, giving him a good position in the Festival final. Darren Pratt won the warm up race.

The Bangers had fun in the rain, the lack of grip leading to a number of crashes and something of a surprise as Elliott Dobson, normally a heavy hitter, left the contact alone and notched up a heat and final double, with a good performance from Lee Madden which saw him grab two second place finishes and a heat win. Harry Rawlins was the Rawlins 2000 qualifier winner while Ricky Korpiela and Chris Trickett were given joint last car position after a final head on killed both cars off.
