PRI Banger Teams Final Eliminator

The Final Eliminator for the PRI Banger teams was raced, and more importantly wrecked out at Arena Essex on July 28. As seems usual for this year, the Canvey Cowboys started off strongly, including a race win for Stephen Hale, but died back as the meeting went on as the Cream Team and the Condoms came through. A Condom/Cream final was not to be, however, as the Creams went on a wrecking war with the 2001 holders, the Midnight Runners, allowing the Allsorts, a comparatively new team, to snatch points for second place overall in the meeting final.
A hard fought Rawlins 2000 qualifier saw a win for one of the Allsorts, Dan Reid, before the whole field pummelled themselves silly, Simon Smith being awarded the Best Wrecker after a last running car couldn't be found.
In the SuperBangers it was a good day for Nigel Carroll who managed a heat and final double and was only denied a complete meeting whitewash by Tubbs Butler in the Helter-Skelter.
Simon Smith was to be found at the front of the Outlaw Hot Rods final by the end with Dave Fry behind him in a good days' racing, albeit subject to a few breakdowns that saw only six finishers in the final. Perry Clack put in a good performance in the warm up, driving from near the back to take the days' first trophy, while Dave Hitchen took the Helter-Skelter win, denying Dave Fry again - Fry took second place in all three races!
