In brief 

In this impromptu memorial meeting, July 8 at Arena Essex, for Jim Richards who died recently, the yellow Canvey Corsa was piloted to victory in heat and helter-skelter and almost to final victory by son Ryan Richards, recently a convert from his junior Ministox days. He was held off the whitewash by Darren Clement who caught and passed Richards in the closing stages. Darren Read took the other heat while Lee Brett got a rare taste of life on the pace car by winning the consolation.

Tracey Worthington managed to keep her success rate going in the Ladies Banger Championships during the Arena Essex July 8 meeting by winning over Sharon Worthington and ex-Saloon driver Lynda Beaumont.

The Arena Essex July 8 meeting saw a fourth Plastengrave Non-Ford meeting, and while Sonny Sherwood was trying his utmost to keep the points piling up with a win in the second heat, his close rivals Andrew Davies and Jason Jackson also notched up many points including a Rawlins Qualifier win for Davies. Del Waterman kept his recent run of success going with a heat win, as did Neil Freeman, while Chris Outhwaite scored in the consolation before former Plastengrave champion Mark Newman made his presence felt in the final, beating Neal Wells home.
