Swaffham Raceway (Trackstar)
Icebreaker VI Unlimited Banger Team Open
Swaffham Grandstand Very cold it was, and a little underpowered given last years' epic, but the Swaffham Icebreaker still gave good action overall in a ten race meeting eventually won by the Cornish based "Bad Boys" team, despite the best efforts of Alan Tarn and the Bedford & District team (the new name for the Luton team that won it last year) to grab the win for a second year. Minus points didn't really play a big part this year, though Shane Davies of the Condoms among others seemed intent on winning the anti-prize for the lowest possible score!
I am going to take you around the pits for a little look at some of the material in use.
Ant Hill Mob congregating Simon Byrne and one of many Blitz! team cars Roy Bramley in Condom pink? Shurely shome mishtake!
I can see the Steam rising! It would never catch on in London... Edwin Basters' cab A before shot! See down the page for the fate of Paul Murrell's Gran
The Romford Dunno team were hit before the meeting started... Davie Cox's P5. A lot of motor... Werner Wolters drove this for the confusingly named Luton Banger Team
The best I could do trackside of the immaculate Richard Regan Rover Darren Burkett in one of the smaller cars of the day This is what hit Gaz Murrell! A rarity courtesy of Gary Madgewick
Annette Nichols was but one winner, and the only good shot I got!!! Psycho's yank stayed trackside a long time, and took a fair few with him Spotted on the side of Neil Peters' spotty... wonder what it means! :)
Have an eyeful of Snapper's Mk.10, one of many at the meeting Possibly my fave yank of the day, this effort from Mark Chrisp
As for that snap, this is what happens when a Granada ambulance gets stuck between a Swaffham post and a Datsun 6000 driven by former Spedeworth champ Gary Madgewick!
Trackside view Being lifted off I understand that an injury was sustained as a result of this, which was a pretty horrific crash by most folk's standards. Hopefully all concerned will be up and about as soon as possible.
