Ministox
Roy Laybourn made a late pass to win the final in the August 28 meeting at Arena Essex for Ministox following a close race that almost gave T-Jay Powers a win until he was first overtaken by Alex Guintini before Laybourn made his move just before the end. Powers had already had a winner‘s trophy earlier in the day during the first heat when he won ahead of debut girl Remi Gay driving an ex-Jack Woodroffe car with visiting driver Robert Gamble taking third, the best finish of the day for the visiting Incarace and RDC drivers. It was a mixed day for George Heath as he took a win in the second heat in front of a massive effort for second by Ryan Gibson ahead of Laybourn, but would end up spun out in a tightly contested helter-skelter on the nose of the Jimmy Galloway car, leaving the helter-skelter win to Vinnie Madden with Robert Hull and Ben Murray supporting. The consolation was also fairly fierce with a late win by inches for Chris Whiteman ahead of Jamie Lee Potter and Luke Armiger.

SuperBangers
The domination of the PRI SuperBanger formula by Phil and Tubbs Butler continued at the Bank Holiday Monday meeting at Arena Essex, August 28. Although a new car from Chris Trickett seemed to be reasonably fast and, in the final, Trickett was close to a win, he was denied as Tubbs tapped him aside late in the race. The two heats went to Phil with Trickett taking second in all three races.

Van Bangers
August Bank Holiday Monday at Arena Essex invariably means the running of the annual Rawlins Transport Big Van Championship, this year won by Jason Jackson who last held this title in 2003. Jackson came home second in his heat, held off by Lewis Price despite a last gasp attempt on the lead on the last bend, while visitor Davy Wright took the second race, denying another previous holder of the title, Ricky Korpiela. The main event, stopped part way after a crash at the top of the home straight, went to Jackson ahead of a determined effort by Malcolm Fuller with the Rawlins qualifier and destruction derby also going to Boxer and Fuller with Sonny Sherwood in third. Sherwood would also take the last van award following a protracted demolition which saw one of the two rollovers of the day.
