The BriSCA F2 World Qualifier proved a mixed bag for the favourites at Arena-Essex on May 12, with Bill Batten dominating the day with a final win after recovering from a crash while fighting for the lead in his heat to take the win in the consolation race. Barry Goldin won the first heat, then was involved in the biggest crash of the day for the open wheelers as he, Gary Ellis and Stu Swales ended up constructing a pyramid at the top of the home straight! The meeting also featured Daz Kitson who was held off the winners spot twice; once by Batten in the final and again in the Grand National qualifier by regular visitor Carl Issitt, while only qualifying in the second heat in sixth place, that race going to Bryn Tootall. |
