1300 Stock Cars
Another meeting, another Supreme Qualifier for the 1300 Stock Cars at Arena Essex as they gathered for three races on July 4. Derry Monk was the victor in race one despite the best efforts of Sean Collin and a little back marker involvement from Michael Coventry, though the final was a far more serious affair with John McGirr taking a late lead, pulling away from what became quite a brawl behind him, Monk and Andrew Palmer doing whatever was necessary to at least stay on terms and collecting second and third respectively as a result. Monk and Palmer managed to hold off McGirr in the helter-skelter while Collin collected fourth in a scrap with Rob Harman.

BriSCA F2 Stock Cars
The Tarmac Masters title for BriSCA F2 Stock Cars was seen as an equivalent to the popular World of Shale series. How successful that will be remains to be seen but the turnout was average for the formula at Arena Essex on July 4 in a three heat and allcomers meeting which saw a quick finish in race one when a tangle on the Aveley turn got a bit close to the racing line, the race going to a good race between John Plant and Matthew Metcalfe which was settled when Metcalfe spun out close to the end. Barry Parker followed Plant home with Mac McCutcheon in tow. Plant tried hard to get a second win in heat two after Lee Guinchard sped inside him two laps from home, but had to settle for second with Parker again behind him. Guinchard it was that took the third heat also, Chris Roots shaking Gary Ellis off but unable to catch up in second. The final saw the two heat winners both hit the front and both fall back, Plant off sick while Guinchard seemed to be having grip problems late in the race as he kept spinning on the pit turn. Roots therefore took the final unopposed, though second spot Gary Maynard had a tough time holding Nic Grindrod off as he came home. Guinchard notched a third win up in the Grand National Qualifier, beating Grindrod and Neal Smith out after taking the lead spot halfway in from Mick Marr.

Small Van Bangers
July 4 at Arena Essex and time for the Small Van Bangers to make their annual appearance. Kevin Goodfellow seemed to be on an easy run to a winner in the first heat until he spun himself two laps from home, giving the win over to Jason Mills, with Shane Collins following home in second. The second heat was stopped early with the trophy awarded to Mick Bradbury in a race that saw Karl Vanner roll onto his roof while Brad Theaker gave it large to Darren Evans among other notable hits, the best being the scrap between George Rowbotham and Chris Strachan just before the stop. If Vanners' van was a rollover victim in the second, then it was certainly a write off in the final as it was totally destroyed when he tried to find a hole in the wreckage that wasn't there. Paul Stern got a good shot in the side of Luke Radley after he was spun by Sean Collin, while at the front, the winners were closing but never quite got a bite on each other as Mark Woolner won from Kev Elmore and Sonny Sherwood. That just left the Rawlins qualifier which was a three start affair, the first stop being the squishing of Evans into the pit bend armco, the second when Stuart Wilson took John Drummond into the armco full chat. The third start was given as a five lap dash for the remainder, taken by Mark Mahoney, Dave Greenstreet and Sherwood before Greenstreet matched up with Mahoney after some measurable hits including Sherwood and Elmore, the final head on leaving Mahoney on the starter and Greenstreet in the final the hard way.
