A soggy night didn't seem to stop the cars at Mildenhall for its August 7 meeting, the last before a three week lay off. The day started with an extra Banger race, the pits bulging with hopefuls. The track was a bit too wet for this, however, and Daren Wolf came home first in front of a lot of very brown looking cars. Things were better by the time Paul Coker won the second heat. The heat was fairly tame until Wayne Rowland opened the account with a jack, Tommy McGurk also using his nut in the closing stages, while the last heat was given to Tony Ciantar after problems for one driver on the second turn. Barry Wade took a big wrecking consi but the final went the way of Mr. Mess, Andy Davies beating Dave Tuffin home to make things interesting points-wise. Dave Palmer finally got the Accumulator qualifier after a last ditch showdown saw his last opposition black flagged for outside interference.

Andy Gibbs won the hotly contested first heat in the BriSCA F2 Stock Car racing, the lead changing hands several times over the race, while a superb drive in the second heat by Simon Ricketts saw him half a lap ahead of Mark Simpson by the end. David Tomlinson took the consolation inside the last five laps while Mark Simpson won the thrice restarted final in the laststages, Rob Kaye's last attempts to pass proving too little, too late. Danny Quinnen managed to hold off Andy Ford in the last quarter of the Grand National Qualifier for the final BriSCA trophy of the night.

It should also be added that RDC arranged a collection for seriously injured driver Darren Jones of the Spedeworth team. His condition was reported as critical but stable, and all at RDC expressed their concern and hope for Darren's recovery.
