Report

Bangers
Lee Hughes took the first banger heat in the last lap, taking long time leader Danny Oliver on the home straight. Mark Munson was in a good position to challenge but was sent into dead scrap on the bridge bend by Hughes close to the end. Charlie Taylor provided much of the crash action as he turned on turn four though his actions got him a black flag on this occasion. George Goodearl took the win ahead of Phil Smith and Hughes, who went on to win the final in the closing stages, taking the lead from long time leader Oliver with Munson in tow, though little contact occurred as many drivers were saving their cars for the caravan race.

The Caravan race doubled up as a destruction derby, though the destruction started pretty early as the circuit filled up with the leftovers of a thousand motor holidays. The spectators didn't quite know where to look as the race started and the caravans were quickly and spectacularly reduced to atoms all around the circuit, with the few that decided to come on without caravans joined in at the end to finish of the few remaining carcases. The eventual caravan race winner was Phil Smith, the eventual last car running award going to Mike Nichols with awards also given for best turned out, best wrecked and best entertainer.

Ministox
Ray Petty consolidated on his recent Ministox success by springing ahead in the first heat to an easy victory, Jack Deacon just holding off Vinni Madden for second place. The second heat was far closer as Deacon and Petty raced for the lead through most of the race until Madden came through to grab the win and Billy Hull just managed to snatch a place on the pace car on the last lap. Petty earned a grade upgrade by winning the final, second place won by Madden after a blistering battle with eventual third place car Deacon though neither could catch the leader by the end.

Lightning Rods
A surprise appearance for the Lightning Rods for the second time in as many days gave Terry Rollings an opportunity to show off his brand new car, while Gary Greenland turned out in his new grade after wiping the board the previous day. Rollings had the lead to himself in the first heat until Anthony Lawrence caught and passed him. The fourth turn was very slippery which led to many errors from drivers throughout the field including a synchronised spin from Roy Rawlins and Gary Greenland but the race turned into a two man fight as Lee Morrow briefly took the lead from Lawrence only to lose it again, the track betraying him down to second spot with John Randall in third. Greenland had a better time in the second heat, taking the heat close to the end from Rollings, while a large crash held up Dale Atkins when Incarace visitor Gavin Jones tried to hold him up with a classic example of mirror driving, letting John Randall through inside. The final started with Anthony Lawrence and Greenland on the front row but Greenland lost a wheel along the home straight and Rollings vaulted along the home straight as the red flags were brought out for a complete restart. Another restart followed after visiting driver Ian Berry of Spedeworth collided with Dave Imber who had spun on the back straight in traffic. On both these earlier starts, Lawrence had taken the lead but Lee Morrow was to take the lead on the third occasion, while a deliberate obstruction by the Jones car led to Jones being disqualified and Randall grabbing a chance second place ahead of Atkins though neither could quite catch up to Morrow.
