With the weather at Arena Essex not favouring the faster drivers on March 16, the Group A Hot Rods still managed to pull together a few good races, the eventual heat and final double of Danny Hunn being only one talking point in the meeting. Hunn took his heat win after getting the better of David Hopper in the first race; Hopper had held on to the lead through most of the event despite heavy pressure from Richard Haines and would eventually come in second which was his best finish of the day. The second heat was taken by Matthew Haines after he pulled past the early pacesetter while fourth was enough to give Hunn pole position on the starting grid in the final, a position he took full advantage of, getting well away from Chris Smith, the wet conditions hampering many.

1300cc Stock Cars
Liam Friel spun on the back straight during the March 16 final at Arena Essex which stopped a possible hat trick of wins, the final win going to Jason Askew of Aldershot. The meeting saw a lot of new faces where this formula appears to have attracted a number of ex-Ministox drivers including Friel, the outgoing Ministox champion, but also saw some terrible weather which kept the speed down and produced a number of gaffs as drivers old and young fought to stay on the track.

Bangers
Paul Hunter managed a heat and final double at Arena Essex, March 16, after his long win drought, beating driver's champion Jason Jackson on both occasions in what were appalling conditions, with cold wind and rain keeping many away.
