Group A Hot Rods
Plenty of success for newcomer and sometime bad boy of the Group A Hot Rods Dan Moulton at the Terry Skeef Memorial meeting at Arena Essex on October 2 with a double win in the heats whilst Dave Lamb continued his winning streak with a heat win and Alan Thorndyke became the latest winner of this title.

Lamb won the first heat with a classic back to front drive, Dave Hutchins taking second place by half a length from Mark Nichols off the last corner. Moulton took the second heat after Lee Follett, who had led early on, ended up in a spin with Chris Smith and Lamb in a fight for the lead, Follett not finishing the race though Smith and Lamb managed to limp home down the order while Thorndyke finished ahead of Mark West. Moulton then took the third heat ahead of an interesting battle for second place which was narrowly taken by West as he attempted to run outside Simon Simmons. Thorndyke took off in the final, however, managing to leave the field behind as the rest of the red tops were bogged down behind the body of the field, West and Simmons again taking second and third respectively.

Plastengrave Bangers
Billy King may not have won any races during the Terry Skeef Memorial climax to the Plastengrave Non-Ford Banger series, but that didn't really matter as his position in the series points was unassailable, most of the betting being down to who would take the runner-up and third place trophies. That was all assured by some good runs by Phillip Smith, who won the second heat of the day to take second place overall, and Gary Brown who won the meeting final ahead of Paul Whiteman and Matt Fuller. Steve Wilson was the other heat winner, whilst Whiteman went on to take the Rawlins qualifier win along with Jack King who took the less subtle way into the £2000 final at the end of October.
