Ministox
An early win for Daniel Amos at Arena Essex on April 16 as the Ministox mobbed the track again, numbers seemingly rising following recent television exposure, though Simon Smith lost out on a trophy in that race, getting a two place penalty after crossing second, contact being the cause. Ryan Richards grabbed another trophy to add to his second spot in the first race by winning the second heat ahead of Lawrence Davey and Michael Sanderson, then a twice stopped third heat went to Lee Smith, with Darren Cardy tried hard to catch Smith and Nick Tandy through the back markers, Tandy dropping to a penalty for contact as Smith had done earlier. Cardy went one better and under his own steam in the final, holding on despite Davey's best efforts to win the big race.

National Bangers
The National Bangers at Arena Essex on April 16 started with a win for Ian Smith in the white top race which he led from early on in the race, then Jason McMahon took the experts race from Andrew Davies, Mark Ruskin in third managing to keep ahead of Sonny Sherwood in fourth to maintain his drivers' championship lead. Davies went on to win the allcomers' final which also featured the biggest hit of the day when Elliott Dobson destroyed Clive Killick on the home straight. Jason Jackson then took his place in the Rawlins 2000 by winning the qualifier with McMahon took on and outlasted Stuart Wilson for the last car award while Steve Latham and Tommy McGurk sandwiched Neal Wells.

BriSCA F2 Stock Cars
Plenty of action so far in the BriSCA F2 Stock Cars as they compete for their World Final positions. The fight moved to Arena Essex on April 16 with a good turnout including a good number of star graders, from Arena regular visitors such as Mick Sworder and Carl Issitt to folk more often seen on the shaleways such as Bert Finnikin. The blue and red graders were quickly through in the first heat which was finished early with a dead car on the racing line, James Thackerer getting the win ahead of veteran Bill Batten, who also got a warning from the steward for going out in the wrong heat, as did Chris Roots. Alan Hall dominated the second heat, the low grader actually managing to grab a little space from Gary Maynard on the last lap as Maynard tried to close in. There was quite an assortment of high grades in the consolation for many reasons, including Sworder who shot through the field for a win here, going inside Daniel Rogers inside the last lap. Rogers also tried to keep the final position, but was denied when he was heaved out of it by eventual winner Craig Finnikin, Sworder chasing but unable to catch up as he clipped the kerb and lost position on Finnikin as Rogers went out of it, Rogers eventually going in third. Rogers got a degree of consolation, however, by grabbing first place in the Grand National qualifier at the end, with Steve Broomfield and Bill Batten in tow.
